Who we are
This website is operated by Live Life Queerly, based in London, United Kingdom. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data and are committed to protecting it in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you have any questions about this policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at: hello@livelifequeerly.com
What data we collect
We may collect the following types of data depending on how you use this site:
- Usage data — pages visited, time on site, device type, browser, and approximate location (city level), collected via Google Analytics only if you have given consent.
- Submitted content — if you submit a story or event via our Google Forms, we collect the information you choose to provide (such as a message, display name, and optionally your email address).
- Consent preferences — your cookie consent choices are stored locally in your browser via our consent management tool (CookieYes).
We do not collect sensitive personal data unless you choose to share it voluntarily in a submission.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- Consent — analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you have actively accepted them via our cookie banner. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — operating and improving the site, moderating and publishing community submissions, and communicating with people who contact us directly.
- Contract — processing submissions in order to fulfil the purpose for which you sent them (e.g. publishing an event you submitted).
We do not rely on legitimate interests as a basis for placing non-essential cookies. All such cookies require your explicit consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
How we use your data
- To display and improve content on this site.
- To moderate and publish community submissions (stories, events).
- To serve relevant advertising via Google AdSense (consent required).
- To understand how visitors use the site via Google Analytics (consent required).
- To track button interaction events (e.g. calendar subscriptions) via Google Analytics (consent required).
Cookies
We use cookies in two categories. Non-essential cookies are only placed after you give explicit consent via our cookie banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the footer.
Essential cookies
These are required for the site to function and do not require consent. They include your cookie consent preference stored by CookieYes.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
Google Analytics 4 uses the following cookies to collect aggregate, anonymised data about how visitors use this site. IP addresses are anonymised. We do not use Google Signals or enable ad personalisation.
- _ga — distinguishes users. Duration: 2 years.
- _ga_[ID] — maintains session state. Duration: 2 years.
Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, after which it is automatically deleted.
Advertising cookies (consent required)
Google AdSense may set cookies to serve ads based on your browsing behaviour. These are governed by Google's own policies. You can manage your ad personalisation preferences at Google Ads Settings.
Affiliate cookies (consent required)
This site contains affiliate links to dating apps including HER, Hinge, and Bumble. If you click one, the relevant company may set cookies to track referrals. We may earn a commission if you sign up or purchase. This does not affect the price you pay.
Third-party services
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site. Data is processed by Google LLC and may be transferred to servers in the United States. We have configured GA4 with IP anonymisation enabled, Google Signals disabled, ad personalisation disabled, and a data retention period of 14 months. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google AdSense
We display advertising via Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads relevant to your interests. AdSense is only activated after you have consented to advertising cookies.
CookieYes
We use CookieYes to manage your cookie consent preferences. CookieYes stores your choices in your browser and ensures that non-essential scripts are not loaded without your consent. CookieYes's privacy policy is available at cookieyes.com.
Google Forms and Sheets
Story and event submissions are collected via Google Forms and stored in Google Sheets. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed through these tools. We do not share your submitted data with third parties, and we only publish content with your knowledge as indicated in the submission form.
Vercel
This site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process server logs including IP addresses for security and performance purposes. Vercel's privacy policy is available at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@livelifequeerly.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Data retention
We retain submitted content (stories, events) for as long as it is published on the site, or until you request deletion. Analytics data in Google Analytics is set to a 2-month retention period. Server logs held by Vercel are subject to their own retention policy. You can request deletion of any submission at any time by contacting us.
International transfers
Some third-party services we use (including Google and Vercel) may transfer and process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we rely on those providers' own adequacy mechanisms and standard contractual clauses to ensure your data remains protected to UK GDPR standards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will not retroactively reduce your rights without clear notification.
